My love for photography started when I was sixteen and visited Cornwall with my family. It felt like being in a fantasy world. Everything from its sunsets, to the cobblestone steps leading down to a crystal shop overgrown with vines made me feel like I died and woke up in a different era. With nothing but a Samsung s9, I started taking photos left and right. I think the juxtaposition of going from suburban New Jersey to a place as “old world” as Cornwall inspired me to seek out unique forms of beauty and capture them.
I most enjoy capturing the essence of a memory, a moment in time that was once the present. More specifically, the emotion felt in that moment in time. I appreciate a photo’s ability to do that; to bring the past into the present, to unlock feelings that have been lost over time.
Combined with a surreal, dreamlike quality, my photos aim to capture these forgotten emotions. I hope they may resonate with you as they do with me.
